Contemporary Housing is seeking a motivated and compassionate Support Worker to join our growing team in Birmingham.
In this role, you will support individuals living in supported accommodation, including refugees, people experiencing homelessness, individuals recovering from drug or alcohol dependency, and those living with mental health challenges. The role aims to help residents build stability, develop independent living skills, and move towards greater independence.
This position is ideal for someone looking to start or develop a career in housing support, social care, mental health support, or community support work.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tenancy-related support to residents living in supported accommodation
- Build professional and supportive relationships with residents while maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Support residents in developing independent living skills, including budgeting and maintaining their accommodation
- Maintain accurate support notes and engagement records following support sessions
- Monitor resident wellbeing and identify additional support needs where appropriate
- Ensure residents understand their responsibilities as tenants, including maintaining their accommodation and adhering to house rules
- Carry out basic household and property checks and report maintenance issues where necessary
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns in line with company policies and procedures
- Liaise with external agencies and organisations, including local councils, healthcare services and support providers
- Follow support plans and risk assessments to ensure safe and effective delivery of support

Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Access to your own vehicle
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage a caseload and maintain accurate records
Successful applicants will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check. The cost of the DBS check will be payable by the applicant.
Pay: £26,000.00 per year
