Job Title: Homelessness & Housing Solutions Officer
Location: Redditch, Worcestershire
Pay Rate: £30 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 3 Months Initially (Possible Extension)
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 Days Per Week in the Office
The Role:
Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for a Homelessness & Housing Solutions Officer to work with Redditch Borough Council. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced housing professional to join a busy local authority team delivering high-quality homelessness prevention and housing advice services.
The successful candidate will manage a caseload of homelessness applications, assess housing needs, and provide practical housing solutions in line with current legislation and best practice. You will play a key role in ensuring legal decisions are robust, accurate, and compliant with statutory duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of homelessness and housing options cases from initial assessment through to decision.
- Provide high-quality housing advice and homelessness prevention support to residents.
- Assess homelessness applications and make legally sound decisions in line with housing legislation.
- Ensure households owed a duty are placed into appropriate temporary accommodation where required.
- Work with private landlords and external partners to maximise opportunities to prevent homelessness.
- Prepare detailed reports, case notes, and legal decision letters ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date case files and records to meet monitoring, audit, and reporting requirements.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, partner agencies, and support services to achieve sustainable housing outcomes.
- Ensure expenditure, including temporary accommodation costs, is managed responsibly and in line with policy.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a homelessness, housing options, or housing advice service.
- Strong working knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.
- Experience managing complex housing cases and making legally robust homelessness decisions.
- Ability to produce clear, accurate reports and case documentation.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and case management skills.
- Experience working in a local authority housing service is highly desirable.
