Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for passionate and dedicated Support & Progression Officers to join our teams at our services in Camden.
About Centrepoint
At Centrepoint, we work to provide vulnerable young people with the practical and emotional support they need to find employment, pursue education, and live independently. Our mission is to end youth homelessness by 2037, and together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year. We provide accommodation, health support, and essential life skills training to guide young people back into education, training, and employment.
About the Roles
Cressy Road Service:
Cressy Road is a 10-bed all-male service supporting 16-21-year-olds who are referred by Camden as either Looked After Children or Care Leavers. The service offers medium to low support to help young people develop the skills needed for independent living, with a focus on transitioning to lower-support housing within the Camden pathway. The young people we support are all in the care of the Local Authority, with whom we collaborate closely.
Bloomsbury Street Service:
Bloomsbury Street is an 8-bed all-male service for 16-25-year-olds, including those with gang affiliations, criminal behaviour histories, and asylum seekers. This service is the second stage in the Camden pathway, with a focus on further developing independent living skills. Like Cressy Road, all residents are referred by Camden as Looked After Children or Care Leavers, and we work in partnership with the Local Authority and external agencies.
In this role, you will:
- Work face-to-face with young people, supporting them in achieving their goals and transitioning to independent living
- Undertake needs and risk assessments, managing your own caseload and providing holistic, personalised support
- Liaise with external agencies, including social services, health teams, and other statutory and voluntary organizations
- Support young people with practical issues like managing rent accounts, accessing employment and training opportunities, and developing personal budgeting skills
- Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to ensure the highest standards of accommodation and support are maintained
Shifts and Staffing:
- Both services are staffed 24/7, and you’ll work shifts ranging from early to late and across weekends.
- At Cressy Road, the team consists of three Support & Progression Officers and two Night Supported Housing Assistants.
- At Bloomsbury Street, there are six Support & Progression Officers and two Night Supported Housing Assistants, with at least two staff members on shift at any time.
What we are looking for:
- Passionate individuals who are committed to working with young people and supporting them through their journeys
- Experience working within supported housing settings and providing various levels of support
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, as well as with external partners like social services and health teams
- Strong communication skills and the energy, enthusiasm, and dedication to join a team making a real difference in young people's lives
- An interest in working with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and supporting young people with a range of complex needs
Why join Centrepoint?
In return for your dedication, you’ll receive:
- A competitive salary
- 25 days of annual leave (increasing to 27 after two years)
- A healthcare cash plan covering medical, dental, optical, and alternative therapies
- Private medical insurance and income protection
- Employer pension contributions of 5%
- Clear career progression linked to portfolio work and opportunities to move up the pay scale
- Access to the Cycle2Work loan scheme and interest-free travel loans
Centrepoint is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment. We actively challenge societal discrimination and ensure fairness and equality for all within our organization. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, including those with lived experience of homelessness.
