Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for a HR Officer to join our HR based in Manchester.
About us
We help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently. Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment. We want to end youth homelessness by 2037.
Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year.
The HR team at Centrepoint are a small, friendly, and proactive team who focus on high levels of delivery, continuous improvement, and putting their colleagues first.
As we launch phase two of our People strategy, we are looking for a dedicated HR Officer to support our mission forward by delivering a high-quality HR service across the organisation.
As part of our team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and coaching managers on employee relations matters, with a particular focus on sickness management. Your advice will align with company policies and current Employment Law to ensure best practices. Additionally, you will oversee the development of our HR system, conducting regular audits to maintain accurate employee data. You will work alongside the HR Business Partner to build strong, collaborative relationships with managers, enhancing the value and impact of the HR team across the organisation.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing first-line HR support by handling non-complex queries, ensuring timely escalation and follow-up within service level agreements, and arranging Occupational Health (OH) appointments as required.
- Managing end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes for designated areas, ensuring compliance with recruitment policies and safe recruitment practices.
- Conducting regular data audits to maintain the accuracy and integrity of employee information.
- Acting as a superuser of the Cascade HR system, providing expert support, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the system is fully utilised to meet organisational and HR needs.
- Working closing with the HR Business Partners to provide support on project-based tasks aligned with the People Strategy.
About you
- Previous experience as a HR Officer in a small team.
- Experience working with a HR System (we currently use Cascade)
- Proficient in managing data with an emphasis on attention to detail
- Knowledge of employment law, with the ability to be able to advice managers in line with legislation
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to maintain confidentiality at all time
- Formal HR Qualification is desirable
