Solidarity Point and Home for Now casework
- Deliver high quality information, advice and guidance through our Solidarity Point community outreach sessions and engage with guests to prevent homelessness and rough sleeping.
- Hold a caseload of Home for Now guests who require short term intervention to resolve their homelessness and move into independent accommodation.
- Work collaboratively with referring agencies to identify move on pathways, maximise guests’ income, training, and employment opportunities.
- Ensure good practice and quality support is consistent and you are up to date with polices and procedures.
- Prepare driving schedules and routes for Solidarity Point activities.
- Cover for other members of the team/drivers, as necessary.
- Supervision of pool of volunteers – cooks, drivers, companions.
Managing Food Safety
- Plan hot and cold food menus in line with Food Standards Agency’s guidelines; working within budget to prepare, cook and distribute healthy and nutritious meals, ensuring that all ingredients used are accurately recorded.
- Ensure menus and a comprehensive list of ingredients are available at each outreach event, making sure to highlight any of the relevant allergens the food may contain.
- Complete comprehensive risk assessments for all areas of Street Souls operations including hot and cold food storage, handling, and distribution, and Covid secure operations.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with health and safety legislation.
Driving and delivery
- Load, unload and clean the van after each shift.
- Drive safely and responsibly and ensure the van’s roadworthiness.
- Prepare driving schedules and routes for outreach activities.
- Cover for other members of the team/drivers, as necessary.
- Supervision of pool of volunteer drivers.
Partnership work and data collection
- Recruit and support local people to become volunteers for the solidarity outreach activities, ensuring they remain engaged and involved, have completed a ‘food hygiene’ certification if appropriate, and keep accurate records on volunteering hours.
- Collect and collate accurate data from solidarity and outreach activities, regularly monitoring and creating reports to show the impact of these activities and ensuring that all records are kept in compliance with GDPR regulations.
- Advocate on behalf of people experiencing homelessness and signpost to relevant agencies, where appropriate.
- Assist in sourcing additional items for distribution including clothing, toiletries and sleeping bags, and keep accurate records of all items distributed.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with the network of local homelessness organisations and forums to raise awareness of Emmaus Greenwich and the Street Souls#solidaritypoint project, to help increase the impact that Emmaus Greenwich can have in reducing homelessness.
- Act as an ambassador for Emmaus Greenwich; actively seeking opportunities to promote the charity via events (both corporate and community) and social media.
- To facilitate and co-ordinate with external agencies in relation to #solidaritypoints Guests’ health, benefits, support, work experience and personal development, representing Emmaus to partner agencies and developing relations with a wide variety of services with whom a relationship will benefit local community.
- Work as part of a team ensuring continuous development of the Community both as an individual charity, part of the UK Federation and as part of the International Emmaus Movement.
- To work with the wider UK federation and Emmaus UK to embed quality frameworks, good practice, and evaluation and monitoring where needed.

- Provide clear communication for reporting to Senior Management Team, demonstrating outputs and outcomes.
- Maintain accurate paper and database records on casework.
- Support SDM to collate relevant information and ensure high quality funding applications are submitted within donors’ deadlines and criteria for support.
Other Duties
- As a member of the staff team make a positive contribution to the development of all aspects of Community life.
- Ensure all Companions, staff, volunteers, and clients adhere to Emmaus Greenwich’s operational polies and health and safety measures are adhered to.
- To work flexibly to ensure Emmaus Greenwich’s operations remain fully operational. Support the learning and skills development of Companions.
- Perform any other tasks or duties deemed necessary by the CEO to contribute to the growing needs of the charity.
