Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for a Senior Complex Case Worker team based in London.
About us
We help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently. Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment. We want to end youth homelessness by 2037.
Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year.
The Complex Case Work Team at Centrepoint offers specialised support to young people facing serious challenges like mental health issues, trauma, and substance misuse. They work closely with other Centrepoint services to ensure each young person gets the tailored care they need. The team plays a key role in crisis intervention and supports frontline staff with expert advice. They also advocate for young people when working with external services. Through a compassionate and holistic approach, the team helps young people build resilience, overcome barriers, and move towards positive futures.
What you’ll be doing
You will be required to work closely with the young people, and should be an excellent communicator with an approachable nature. You must be capable of dealing with the young people in a calm and understanding manner. You will be required to work with young people on a casework basis to develop a support plan which is centred on their individual needs and then provide support (in conjunction with a range of other agencies) to enable young people to achieve their goals.
- To lead a small Complex Case team supporting Young People at Centrepoint
- To advocate for young people with complex needs and to use relevant legislation to ensure that they receive the support that they are entitled to
- To work collaboratively with frontline services to respond effectively to more serious mental health presentations, or cases where risk is perceived
- To work collaboratively with Therapeutic Services, PIE and Support & Housing colleagues as part of our Multi-Disciplinary Approach providing interventions to the most vulnerable Centrepoint young people around the country.
About you
- Registered social worker status in England, with previous experience supporting young people with complex mental health needs.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate staff, fostering a positive and effective team environment.
- Advanced understanding of mental health recovery practices, including risk assessments and safety planning.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to advocate for young people and convey complex information clearly.
- Significant experience working with vulnerable groups, such as those experiencing homelessness, mental illness, or substance misuse.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding protocols, ensuring the safety and well-being of young people in your care.
