Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for a Night Supported Housing Assistant to join our Woodstock Grove team based in Hammersmith and Fulham.

About us
We help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently. Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment. We want to end youth homelessness by 2037.
Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year.
Woodstock Grove is a high support (24/7 staffed) service with 13 rooms, where we support young people aged 16-25. Our goal is to support our residents to be ready to take their next step in living independently, which will usually be to step down to a lower support service in the borough. You will be working within a team of 4 Support and Progression Officers and 2 Night Supported Housing Assistants and between you, you will make sure that consistent and holistic support is offered to all young people. We work with young people from a range of cultural and family backgrounds, and with various support needs, so a crucial part of your role is building positive professional relationships which allow our person centred support to be given.
In this role you will:
- Work face to face with young people and support them to achieve their goals and independence.
- Work independently and as part of a team to ensure the highest possible standards of accommodation
- Follow lone working procedures to provide waking night cover from 9:30pm – 9am
- Undertake initial and ongoing needs/risk assessments for young people
- Support our Support and Progression Officers to providing holistic support in line with young people’s needs and aspirations, ensuring consistency of support offered
- Liaise with multiple agencies to ensure effective communication across the service and externally including social work teams, YOS, health and other statutory services and voluntary agencies
- Make internal and external referrals to a wide range of statutory and voluntary agencies for specialist support and Employment and Training opportunities
- Support young people to manage their rent accounts through liaison with the DWP, Social Services and building their own personal budgeting skills
- Respond to incidents in a calm manner, involving external agencies and the On Call manager where appropriate
- Conduct regular health and safety checks, proactively resolving any issues you are able to and reporting maintenance or compliance repairs
- Work within the framework of a Psychologically Informed Environment, ensuring the support you offer is person centred and trauma informed
- Be creative in building relationships with young people, for example arranging informal group activities during your shifts
- Maintain accurate records of support and interactions with young people

- Have an interest in working with USAC (Unaccompanied asylum seeking children)
