Job Description: Multi Trade Operative (Social Housing Sector)
Location: Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Sheffield

We are a leading main contractor specialising in the Social Housing Sector in the Midlands. As a company dedicated to improving living conditions for residents, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Multi Trade Operative to join our team. This role will primarily involve completing larger refurbishment projects in empty homes, ensuring high standards of workmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction.
About the Role Environment
This role involves working within void properties across our portfolio, including supported accommodation and housing schemes. While you will be working in empty homes, some properties are located within schemes where other units are occupied by residents who may have experienced homelessness and may present with complex needs.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in these environments and will demonstrate professionalism, resilience, and a respectful, non-judgemental approach at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out a variety of trade-specific repairs and maintenance tasks in Empty Homes/ Voids, including but not limited to plumbing, carpentry, plastering, tiling, painting, and decorating.
-Installation of Kitchens and Bathrooms in Void/ Empty Home properties where a capital upgrade is required
- Undertake larger repair projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate with the project team to prioritize and schedule repair works, maximizing efficiency and minimizing disruption to residents.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times, following safe working practices and using appropriate protective equipment.
- Communicate effectively with your team, providing clear information and addressing any concerns or queries in a professional and courteous manner.
- Complete work orders, reports, and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working condition, reporting any faults or issues promptly.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience as a Multi Trade Operative, preferably within the social housing sector or a similar environment.
- Strong knowledge and practical skills in multiple trades such as plumbing, carpentry, plastering, tiling, painting, and decorating.
- Relevant trade qualifications or certifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds) are highly desirable.
- Sound understanding of health and safety regulations and the ability to implement safe working practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with residents, colleagues, and clients.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload effectively.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full, clean driving license is essential.
