Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for a Senior Management Accountant to join our Finance team based in London.
About us
We help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently. Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment. We want to end youth homelessness by 2037.
Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year.
The Finance team plays a key role at Centrepoint with a focus on customer service. We support the organisation by producing monthly management accounts, ensuring reliable and informative financial information is available. Value for money plays an integral part of our planning – we are responsible for setting and monitoring budgets, working with and supporting budget holders to enable Centrepoint to deliver on our strategic objective of providing a home and a job for all young people we support. Treasury management is also vital to ensure our finances are well managed, our income is collected promptly, and supplier and staff payments are accurate and on time. Finance is also responsible for safeguarding Centrepoint’s fixed assets.
Centrepoint operates a hybrid working model. The requirement is a minimum of 50% of your working week. For most full-time colleagues, this means attending the office for five days over a two-week period (e.g., two days one week and three days the next). For colleagues on different contracts (including part-time or compressed contracts) this will be adjusted accordingly.
About you
You will be a proactive, detail-oriented and collaborative finance professional, with strong analytical skills and the ability to deliver accurate, high-quality financial reporting. You’ll be comfortable managing competing priorities and leading on month-end processes, as well as supporting and developing team members. A strong understanding of financial controls, accounting standards, and effective budget management is essential, along with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing
• Producing monthly management accounts
• Preparing high-quality monthly management reporting
• Streamlining and automating month-end processes
• Producing regular balance sheet reconciliations
• Working closely with the wider Finance team
• Helping deliver the Finance Functional Strategy
What we’d be looking for from you…
• Knowledge of financial processes, procedures and accounting standards
• On-the-job experience of assisting with month-end processing
• Experience of managing and developing staff
• Intermediate Excel skills
Why join Centrepoint?
In return for your efforts you’ll receive a competitive salary, excellent training and development, and a host of staff benefits including:
• 25 days of annual leave per year, rising by one day per year to a maximum of 27 days
• Healthcare cash plan (covering dental, optical, complementary and alternative therapies)
• Private Medical Insurance
• Income protection
• Employer pension contributions of 5%
• Access to Cycle 2 Work loan scheme
• An interest-free travel loan
At Centrepoint, we challenge discrimination within society that contributes to youth homelessness, and we are just as committed to fairness and equality within Centrepoint itself. We are passionate about ensuring all colleagues feel included and valued for the diversity they bring.
