Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for an Internal Audit Manager to join our Finance & Compliance team based in London.
About us
We help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently. Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment. We want to end youth homelessness by 2037.
Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year.
The Finance & Compliance team plays a crucial role in maintaining transparency, accountability, and value for money across the organisation. The Internal Audit function provides independent assurance to ensure Centrepoint continues to meet regulatory, contractual, and governance standards while supporting continuous improvement and safeguarding public trust.
Centrepoint operates a hybrid working model. The requirement is a minimum of 50% of your working week. For most full-time colleagues, this means attending the office for five days over a two-week period (e.g., two days one week and three days the next). For colleagues on different contracts (including part-time or compressed contracts) this will be adjusted accordingly.
About you
You will be an experienced Internal Audit professional with the confidence to work autonomously and collaboratively across multiple directorates. You’ll combine a strong understanding of audit principles with the ability to challenge constructively, influence at senior level, and drive best practice.
You’ll have a professional qualification in Internal Audit (e.g. CIIA) or an accounting qualification (ACCA/ACA), and proven experience in delivering internal audits, managing staff, and working to professional audit standards. Experience within the charity or housing sector would be an advantage.
What you’ll be doing
• Delivering the annual internal audit plan using a risk-based methodology.
• Managing the co-sourced internal audit resource to ensure audits are delivered effectively and within budget.
• Providing assurance that systems of control are fit for purpose and support Centrepoint’s mission.
• Undertaking internal audits and investigations where required.
• Leading and developing internal audit staff, ensuring they are skilled, motivated and supported.
• Reporting findings and recommendations to the Head of Internal Audit and Senior Executive Team.
• Ensuring compliance with internal audit standards and contributing to continuous improvement of internal audit processes.
• Raising awareness of the internal audit function and promoting a culture of accountability and transparency across Centrepoint.
What we’d be looking for from you…
• Professional qualification in Internal Audit (CIIA) or Accounting (ACCA/ACA or equivalent).
• Demonstrable experience in planning, delivering, and reporting on internal audits.
• Proven ability to manage and develop staff.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of financial, operational, and governance controls.
• A proactive, analytical mindset and the ability to identify and mitigate risks effectively.
• Knowledge of the charity or housing sector (desirable).
Why join Centrepoint?
In return for your efforts, you’ll receive a competitive salary, excellent training and development, and a host of staff benefits including:
• 25 days of annual leave per year, rising by one day per year to a maximum of 27 days
• Healthcare cash plan (covering dental, optical, complementary and alternative therapies)
• Private medical insurance
• Income protection
• Employer pension contributions of 5%
• Access to Cycle 2 Work loan scheme
• An interest-free travel loan
At Centrepoint, we challenge discrimination within society that contributes to youth homelessness, and we are just as committed to fairness and equality within Centrepoint itself. We are passionate about ensuring all colleagues feel included and valued for the diversity they bring.
We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all backgrounds, particularly those with lived experience of homelessness or using young people’s services.
