Homeless Prevention Officer
📍 Location: West Sussex
🕒 Hours: 37.5 per week (2 days in office)
💼 Contract: Temporary – 3 months
💰 Rate: £26–30 per hour
We are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in West Sussex for a proactive and compassionate Homeless Prevention Officer. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact by helping individuals at risk of homelessness secure safe and sustainable housing.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored housing advice and early intervention support to prevent homelessness.
- Assess housing needs and develop prevention plans under the Homelessness Reduction Act.
- Respond to Duty to Refer cases and work with housing associations to prevent evictions.
- Support access to private rented accommodation and carry out affordability assessments.
- Investigate illegal evictions and liaise with legal teams and enforcement agencies.
- Build partnerships with external agencies to ensure holistic support for clients.
- Maintain accurate case records and contribute to service development.
✅ Candidate Profile
- Strong knowledge of housing legislation and homelessness prevention.
- Experience supporting vulnerable individuals and working within multi-agency teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and remain resilient under pressure.
- Must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
- Enhanced DBS check required.
