Sessional Worker – Phoenix Futures, Coatbridge

Phoenix Futures at North Lanarkshire have an exciting opportunity for someone looking to gain experience working in psychosocial treatment for substance use on a sessional basis. 

Previous experience is desirable, however not essential. Support Workers come from many different backgrounds and experiences, and you may have the skills required. We are seeking dedicated individuals, based on your values, willingness to learn new skills and the compassion to deliver the best service possible to the people that use our services.

The Role

• Provide safe, person-centred and flexible ad-hoc cover across North Lanarkshire services when permanent staff are unavailable or additional staffing is required.
• Work as part of the wider team to support adults and families affected by drug and alcohol use through engagement, screening and assessment, one-to-one support, group activities, recovery planning, harm reduction, practical support, advocacy, signposting and onward referral.
• Contribute across the range of North Lanarkshire provision. This may include community and family services, work across the six localities, Recovery Through Nature and community activities, prison throughcare and liberation support, and arrest referral or custody-based support. Deployment will always reflect the worker’s induction, competence, risk assessment, required clearance and management direction.
• Promote dignity, choice, rights, recovery, inclusion and hope while maintaining professional boundaries, accurate records and effective partnership working.

The Service

Building Futures North Lanarkshire is a tier 1/2 Community service supporting individuals, families and communities to recover from alcohol and other substance use. 
We offer therapeutic group work, 1:1 CBT counselling, SMART recovery, Recovery Through Nature, Family support, Prison to Community and Arrest Referral services. 

Based in Coatbridge and working across the 6 localities of North Lanarkshire.

Interview Process

We want you to feel comfortable to be your best during the interview process, so that you can get to know Phoenix and we can get to know you. If shortlisted, you will be contacted for a short face to face / digital interview via Microsoft Teams for approximately week commencing 26/10/26 and be provided all details about the assessment process. All details will be provided in advance so that you can feel adequately prepared and we can support you with reasonable adjustments as required.
