About Signposts:
Signposts is a local charity working in Luton and Dunstable. We provide safe, supportive hostel accommodation for people who are homeless. Our goal is to help individuals rebuild their lives and move forward with confidence. Many of our clients face complex and multiple challenges, such as mental health issues, substance use, or past trauma. That’s why we take a trauma-informed approach to care—creating a safe, respectful environment where people feel heard and supported.
Accommodation Support Worker: We’re looking for someone positive, proactive, and compassionate to join our team. In this role, you’ll support our clients day-to-day, helping them set goals, build life skills, and work towards living independently. If you enjoy working with people and want to make a real difference in your community, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Support people to thrive: Help our clients recognise their strengths, set personal goals, and achieve them — whether that’s learning new skills, gaining independence, or moving into permanent housing.
- Encourage financial independence: Work with clients to create and manage personalised rent and payment plans that build real-world budgeting skills.
- Create a safe, supportive environment: Make sure every client has an up-to-date support plan, risk assessment, and personal profile that reflect their goals and needs.
- Keep things running smoothly: Manage referrals, coordinate accommodation placements, and ensure housing standards meet our high expectations.
- Plan for the future: Help each client develop a clear, achievable “move-on” plan for their next steps.
- Build strong connections: Work closely with partners, agencies, and your colleagues to open up opportunities and maintain Signposts’ excellent reputation.
- Champion client voice: Empower clients to get involved in decision-making and co-produce services — we believe everyone should have a say in shaping their own support.
- Keep our spaces safe: Take responsibility for the safety and maintenance of our buildings — regular checks, follow-ups, and a keen eye for detail are key.
- Stay organised: Keep records accurate and up to date — both paper and digital — so everything’s ready for audits and reviews.
- Work safely and responsibly: Follow all health, safety, and legal guidelines, including the Care Act 2014 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
- Keep learning: Take part in regular supervision and personal development opportunities — we’ll support you every step of the way.
- Be a team player: Support your colleagues and contribute to Signposts’ wider goals and values.
- And, of course: Pitch in with other reasonable duties that keep our service running smoothly.
