Wintercomfort for the Homeless is Cambridge’s only day center dedicated to supporting homeless and vulnerably housed individuals. Operating seven days a week, it provides essential services such as hot meals, showers, laundry, clothing, counselling, and education. The organization also offers Winter Women, a unique support project addressing the needs of homeless women, many of whom have experienced domestic or sexual violence. Through its award-winning social enterprise, Overstream Clean and Garden, Wintercomfort provides training and paid work opportunities for individuals impacted by homelessness. Their mission is to empower individuals to achieve long-term, positive change and transition out of homelessness.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role based in Cambridge for a Women's Project Worker. The responsibilities include managing and delivering the Winter Women project, providing tailored support for homeless and vulnerably housed women. The role involves coordinating and implementing projects aimed at personal development and empowerment, conducting needs assessments, liaising with local services and organizations, and facilitating training and support sessions. Administrative tasks, including maintaining accurate records and reporting progress, are also essential components of the role.
Qualifications
- Strong Analytical Skills and Research abilities to assess needs and design evidence-based initiatives.
- Excellent Communication skills, including active listening and the ability to connect with diverse individuals.
- Project Management experience, with the ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate programs effectively.
- Experience in Training and facilitating group workshops or individual coaching sessions.
- Empathy and understanding of issues related to homelessness, domestic violence, and vulnerable populations.
- Proficiency in using technology for administrative tasks and reporting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external organizations.
