Housing Triage Officer

Our client is looking for a Housing Triage Officer to join their Housing Needs team. This role is ideal for someone with experience in housing, homelessness support, or customer-facing advisory roles, who is passionate about helping individuals access safe and secure accommodation.
You will be the first point of contact for individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, providing housing advice, carrying out initial assessments, and working with partner organisations to find suitable housing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for customers seeking housing advice or experiencing homelessness.
- Conduct initial assessments and investigate housing circumstances.
- Manage a caseload of clients and provide person-centred housing advice and support.
- Work proactively to prevent homelessness and help clients maintain or secure accommodation.
- Liaise with landlords, support services, social services, and external agencies to find suitable solutions.
- Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, making referrals where necessary.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to service targets and reporting.
Requirements:
- Experience in housing, homelessness services, or a similar advisory/support role.
- Knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, including the Homelessness Reduction Act.
- Understanding of landlord and tenant law, welfare benefits, and housing rights.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support vulnerable individuals.
- Ability to manage challenging situations and a varied caseload.
- Good organisation, written communication, and problem-solving skills.
