Shape the future of housing in a city like no other
Bristol is a city like no other! A vibrant Core City, thriving with creativity and opportunity, where we celebrate diversity, and where our residents can live in active and prosperous communities. However, not everyone is able to share equally in the success of our city, and we are seeking a visionary Executive Director of Housing who will lead and shape the future of housing in Bristol, tackling inequalities to ensure that everyone, regardless of background or tenancy, has access to a safe, warm and secure home.
As Executive Director, you will bring strategic leadership and oversight across the entirety of housing services, engaging with local residents and championing the voice of tenants. You will inspire colleagues and develop relationships with partners to meet the needs of our residents, tackling the challenge of homelessness, delivering innovative investment in high quality temporary accommodation, and implementing preventative approaches in housing need services to ensure we reduce the number of those at risk of becoming homeless. As a system-leader, you will develop and implement a clear strategy to address the housing crisis in our city, improve the quality of oversight and management of the private rental sector, and implement a robust approach to meeting our compliance and safety obligations to respond promptly to our C3 regulatory judgement. We are one of the largest council stock owning social landlords in the country with over 27,000 units, undergoing significant investment through upgrades and renewal. You will create an environment where housing development can be delivered at speed, working strategically with private developers, and investing in new homes, either through direct delivery or via our arms-length development company.
Collaborative and inclusive in your leadership, you will ensure we take a joined-up approach in our support to residents, including working with social care to implement new supported housing solutions for vulnerable households, and enable families and tenants to stay in homes where they feel safe and live well. As a corporate leader you will be at the forefront of shaping our city to create neighbourhoods and public spaces that people can be proud of and where communities can thrive. You will be a values-led strategic leader who will transform our housing services, inspiring a culture of innovation, where equity and equality are the founding principles of what drives us.
If you want to help us achieve our ambition to make a better Bristol in one of the most ambitious housing portfolios, working with a collegiate and passionate senior leadership team, then please reach out to GatenbySanderson, Philip Emms (07590 225472) or Tim Hills (07393 011130).
Closing date: Friday 7th November
