SUPPORT HUB RECEPTIONIST
/ COORDINATOR
SALARY: £23,809.50 PRO RATA
HOURS: 20 PER WEEK
TERM: 12 MONTHS WITH A
VIEW TO EXTEND
LOCATION: BEDFORD
As the Support Hub Receptionist you will be a welcoming, friendly face and
the first point of contact in SMART's well-known Support Hub on Prebend
Street.
The post holder will be proactive and motivated, with great interpersonal
and communication skills. Someone with strong organisational skills is a
must, as the role is likely to include a range of tasks and priorities. As this is
a new role, we will need the post holder to be flexible in their approach and
be comfortable to adapt as the needs of the organisation and role change.
KEY TASKS
- Meet and greet people as they access the Centre, in a friendly welcoming manner
- Keep calm and deescalate any challenging behaviour
- Provide general administrative and other assistance for the Service
- Input and maintain accurate records for people attending the Centre, using SMARTs existing Client Management System
- Stock take and order items required for the smooth running of the Centre
- Support and encourage individuals to access specialist support on site, where desired (e.g. housing, mental health, harm reduction, etc.)
Additional Responsibilities
- Support the continual development of the service
- Support with incident response to urgent situations related to serviceusers in the building, including responding to risk (e.g. anti-social behaviour, mental health concerns)
- Assist with the entry of data
- Contribute to the planning and introduction of a varied, meaningful rangeof activities for those attending the centre
- Ensure safeguarding concerns are raised at the earliest opportunitythrough the appropriate channels
- Manage and organise your own diary and conflicting priorities
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with SMARTsexternal partners
- Develop working relationships with other local community groups
About You
We are looking for someone who is comfortable and familiar with working in a small company or charity, understanding that capacity and resources are limited. As such, a can do attitude and motivated approach is key. There will often be multiple, sometimes conflicting priorities, so you will need to be well organised and with excellent communication skills. Youll have an empathetic approach with an understanding of the challenges facing people that are homeless or rough sleeping. You will be able to record information on our database ensuring that records are kept
up to date. Aside from this, you will keep a close eye and record of items needed for
the continued running of the centre. This might include ordering and arranging delivery of items, but also donations coming into the centre from supporters.
We would love it if you have experience of coordinating a day centre or similar community service, and are able to identify and implement service improvement ideas but if you havent done this before and are willing to learn, we would still love to hear from you.
