This is a Permanent, Salaried vacancy that will close in a month at 23:59 BST.
The role
As a Gateway Coordinator, you’ll engage with customers and referrers as they access the Gateway Service for homelessness support. You will make sure that customers receive support and advice that is reactive and tailored to them, to prevent and reduce homelessness. You’ll also be the first point of contact upon referral within the service for customers, other professionals and organisations and promote the service to them. You will be predominantly office based but also have the opportunity to visit the homelessness support hubs across the city to meet customers in person.
Job Requirements
- Support customers with multiple and complex needs.
- Lead on the customer’s support package, coordinating essential services around that customer to ensure that the customer has the opportunity to engage.
- Stay in touch with multi-agency team/support network, providing regular updates where necessary.
- Refer customers to appropriate services, encourage and support their engagement.
- Advocate for customer access into services and challenge barriers and exclusions that customers may face.
- Attend multi-disciplinary team meetings with necessary services, striving to achieve fair access and positive outcomes for customers and to provide a positive platform for communication.
What We’re Looking For
- Educated to GCSE level and/or have a good level of maths and English.
- Experience supporting adults with complex needs, such as substance misuse, homelessness and ill mental health (or transferable skills you can bring to the role).
- Experience working with confidential and complex information, following data protection laws.
- Great communication, problem-solving, organisation and time management skills.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Access.
- Awareness and understanding of current housing and homelessness law.
- Knowledge of welfare benefits systems and types of benefits available.
- Awareness of issues and challenges facing homeless people and their ability to regain independent living.
- Full UK driving license with own vehicle with business insurance is preferable.
- DBS check.
