CARE (Christian Action & Resource Enterprise) is a local charity that has worked in Grimsby and Cleethorpes for over 30 years, supporting individuals and families in crisis to overcome poverty, homelessness, debt, domestic abuse, mental health difficulties and other complex, often overlapping, needs.

What they do

CARE runs a free Crisis Support and Housing Team offering confidential, one-to-one advice, including help accessing accommodation through landlord partnerships. In 2026 it opened The CARE Hub, a restored historic building in central Grimsby, as a free drop-in space where anyone can get a hot drink and a calm space, alongside private rooms for crisis and housing casework. The charity also runs The CARE Shop in Cleethorpes, a donated-furniture and clothing shop that doubles as a volunteering base.

Where and who

CARE operates across North East Lincolnshire, working particularly with people who are rough sleeping or at immediate risk of it, as well as families and individuals facing crisis more broadly.

Working there

Staff and volunteers build the team on compassion, trust and often lived experience of similar circumstances. Roles include outreach and day-services coordination work directly with people who are rough sleeping, alongside the Crisis Support and Housing Team's advice-based casework.
