Help People Rebuild Their Lives

At YMCA Chiltern Group, we're committed to ensuring that everyone has a safe place to live and the opportunity to reach their full potential. We are looking for a passionate and motivated Supported Housing Officer to join our team in Hitchin, supporting adults who have experienced homelessness and other forms of disadvantage to develop the skills and confidence needed for independent living.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference in people's lives while joining a growing organisation with ambitious plans to expand its housing services and increase its impact across the community.

About the Role

As a Supported Housing Officer, you will provide high-quality, person-centred support to residents, helping them achieve their goals and move towards greater independence. You'll work closely with individuals to identify their strengths, overcome barriers, and access the services and opportunities they need to thrive.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing a caseload of residents and delivering tailored support plans and risk assessments.
Supporting residents with housing, wellbeing, education, employment, budgeting, life skills, and move-on planning.
Conducting assessments and assisting with new referrals and resident inductions.
Promoting safeguarding, health and safety, and resident wellbeing.
Working collaboratively with external agencies, social care teams, healthcare professionals, and community organisations.
Encouraging residents to engage with training, employment, social activities, and wider community opportunities.
Undertaking housing management duties, including occupancy checks, rent monitoring, and property inspections.
About You

We're looking for someone who has:

Experience working with vulnerable adults, young people, or other client groups requiring support.
Knowledge of mental health, trauma, safeguarding, and support planning.
Strong communication, assessment, and relationship-building skills.
The ability to motivate and empower individuals to achieve positive outcomes.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
A positive, resilient, and solution-focused approach.

Why Join YMCA Chiltern Group?

If you're passionate about supporting people, building communities, and making a real impact every day, we'd love to hear from you.
