Support Worker

Working hours: 30 hours per week (Shift work, including evenings, weekends and on call)

 We are looking for a part time Support Worker, an exciting opportunity to work with residents in our young people services across Cardiff. We work within a psychologically informed framework that includes delivering zero evictions within the lifehouses and offering post resettlement support to allow the young person to positively settle and move into independent living.

As a Support Worker, you will deliver high-quality, person-centred support that promotes choice, control and independence. You will work with clients to identify their needs, agree and review support plans, manage risk, access services and achieve positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tailored one-to-one support using a trauma-sensitive and person-centred approach.
• Help clients develop practical skills, manage benefits and budgeting, and access appointments or external services.
• Maintain accurate records, complete assessments and follow safeguarding, policy and legislative requirements.

What we’re looking for

• Knowledge or understanding of the needs faced by people experiencing homelessness or vulnerability.
• Strong problem-solving, time management and written record-keeping skills.
• A willingness to work within and promote the Christian ethos and values of The Salvation Army.
• someone organised and committed to supporting vulnerable people with dignity and respect.
• You will have good communication and IT skills, the ability to work under pressure, and the confidence to use your initiative within a busy team environment.

Please note: We have three lifehouses in Cardiff, the successful candidate will be expected to work across all sites if necessary. There is an element of lone working at Ty Diogel.
