We are looking for a Housing Solutions Officer to join our Housing Solutions Team and help deliver our vision of preventing homelessness.
In this key role, you will be an integral part of a dynamic service and a main point of contact for service users and stakeholders. You will help the Council meet its statutory duties under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
We are looking for a positive, adaptable and motivated person who is committed to improving customer service and helping us continue to develop and strengthen the service.
- GCSEs at grades A–C in English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications.
- A relevant Level 2 housing qualification, or a willingness to work towards one.
- Recent and relevant experience of working in a public-sector service or housing-related environment.
- Recent and relevant experience of working directly with members of the public, with a strong understanding of customer care.
- Knowledge of homelessness legislation, particularly the Homelessness Act 2002 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, including the statutory duties relating to prevention, relief and the main housing duty.
- The ability to use multiple IT packages competently and maintain accurate records for data collection and reporting.
- A collaborative approach to team and partnership working.
- An understanding of, and commitment to, the Council’s Core Values and Vision.
- A current driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.
- Excellent organisational skills, including service planning, prioritisation, time management, effective use of resources and performance evaluation.
- The ability to communicate ideas clearly and work with others to develop shared solutions to problems.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure, including when dealing with challenging or sensitive situations and subject matter.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, together with strong numerical skills.
