Housing Maintenance Officer - Swansea ABBA

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:00-16:00 with some flexibility

Project Description 

The project operates across Swansea and works with priority needs homeless people to provide housing related support within temporary accommodation as a safe alternative to Bed and Breakfast accommodation.  The service provides residential support with the aim of meeting individuals’ needs, which promote independence and lead to a sustainable move-on.

Purpose of Role

You will be responsible for providing safe, well-maintained and welcoming homes for people experiencing homelessness. You will oversee the day-to-day condition of properties, carrying out regular property and Health & Safety checks, coordinating repairs and contractors, managing void properties and helping to ensure accommodation is ready for people to move into as quickly as possible.

Requirement to have good basic DIY and practical maintenance skills, with a sound understanding of everyday property maintenance. You will also be confident completing minor repairs such as changing locks, fitting curtain poles and toilet seats, and checking basic faults with white goods, completing work safely and to a good standard.

Working alongside the Cleaner/Caretaker and support colleagues, as well as liaising positively with contractors, landlords and partner agencies; you will be organised, proactive and able to prioritise a varied workload, with a strong team approach and pride in doing a job properly.

This role is about more than maintaining buildings; the standard of someone’s home matters. Work will help create an environment where people can feel safe, settled and supported.

Please note: Driving licence is essential and must be able to drive projects own transit van and have access to own vehicle to travel if required. The salary and job description for this role is also under current review so may be subject to change during the process. 

This role is subject to a Basic DBS check
