We're looking for talented and motivated Housing Allocations Team Leaders to join our Housing Management and Landlord Services Team.

Our Service

Housing Management and Landlord Services delivers council housing services across North Yorkshire, including allocations, tenancy and neighbourhood management, rent collection and tenant engagement.

Our Allocations Team plays a vital role in helping people access affordable housing through a fair, transparent and customer-focused housing register and lettings service.

The Role

As a Housing Allocations Team Leader, you will provide operational leadership and day-to-day management of the Council's housing allocations service, supporting the Allocations Services Manager to deliver a high-performing and customer-focused service across North Yorkshire. You will lead a team responsible for administering the housing register and allocating homes in line with legislation, regulatory requirements and the Council's Allocations Policy.

You will ensure applications are assessed consistently and fairly, drive service improvements and help shape the future direction of housing allocations across one of the country's largest local authority areas. The role also plays a key part in supporting the delivery and ongoing development of the North Yorkshire Home Choice partnership, working collaboratively with registered providers, housing partners and other stakeholders across the county.

What you will bring

You will have:

• Experience of housing allocations, housing management or homelessness services within a social housing or local authority environment.
• Experience of leading, motivating and developing high-performing teams.
• Strong knowledge of housing allocations legislation, statutory guidance and the social housing regulatory framework.
• Experience of interpreting and applying housing policies, procedures and legislation to make sound decisions.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
• A customer-focused approach, with the ability to handle complex and sensitive cases effectively.
• Experience of managing resources, driving service improvement and applying effective people, risk and budget management principles.

Ideally, we are looking for someone who has experience of managing a team within the housing sector.
