About the RoleAs a Housing Officer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality housing management services to residents. You will support individuals from tenancy sign-up through to sustainment and move-on, ensuring they have access to safe, secure, and suitable accommodation.
Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you will help residents maintain their tenancies, access relevant support services, and achieve positive outcomes. You will also contribute to performance targets, including tenant satisfaction and service quality measures, while ensuring properties remain compliant with all relevant legislation and standards.
Key Duties- Manage the end-to-end tenancy process, including sign-ups, move-ins, sustainment, and move-on support
- Support residents with Housing Benefit and Universal Credit claims
- Provide advice and guidance on rent arrears, budgeting, and tenancy responsibilities
- Respond to anti-social behaviour, tenancy breaches, and safeguarding concerns appropriately
- Carry out regular property inspections, ensuring safety, compliance, and maintenance issues are addressed
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using internal systems
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to support residents’ wider needs
- Support residents in accessing services such as mental health, recovery, employment, and education
- Facilitate resident engagement, including meetings and participation in housing-related matters
- Contribute to achieving performance targets, including tenant satisfaction measures
About You- Experience working with individuals facing challenges such as homelessness, mental health issues, substance misuse, or offending behaviour
- Strong understanding of housing management, tenancy sustainment, and relevant housing legislation
- Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Confident in handling sensitive situations, including conflict resolution and safeguarding concerns
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships
- Competent in using IT systems and maintaining accurate records
- A proactive and compassionate approach, with a commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals
- Knowledge of welfare benefits and housing processes is highly desirable
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
