Female Support Worker – Mental Health (Women’s Service)
Location: Central London (SW1 area)
Contract: Temporary – 5 months (possible extension)
Shifts: Early & late shifts, including weekends (no night work)
Start: ASAP
About the Role
We are recruiting a Female Support Worker to join a women-only supported accommodation service working with individuals with complex mental health needs and dual diagnosis. The service operates within a trauma-informed and psychologically informed environment, supporting residents to build independence, wellbeing, and life skills.
This is a non-care role, focused on empowerment, key working, group activities, and high-quality support rather than personal care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support to a small caseload of residents
- Deliver regular key work sessions and maintain support plans and risk assessments
- Support residents with daily living skills (prompting, not doing tasks for them)
- Accompany residents to appointments and community activities
- Facilitate groups or activities focused on wellbeing, life skills, or budgeting
- Complete accurate case notes and records using IT systems
- Carry out general duties including reception cover and housekeeping tasks
- Support residents with basic benefits and housing-related queries
Requirements
- Experience supporting vulnerable people, ideally within mental health or supported housing
- Understanding of trauma-informed and psychologically informed approaches
- Calm, compassionate, and professional approach
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Confident IT skills and ability to complete written records
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Enhanced DBS (Children & Adults) required
- Female applicants only (genuine occupational requirement)
