Job Purpose
To provide person-centred housing-related support to vulnerable adults living in supported accommodation. The role focuses on helping residents develop independent living skills, maintain their tenancy, improve wellbeing, and access specialist services where needed. This is not a personal care role.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with residents to create, review and update support plans based on their identified needs, goals and risks.
- Provide day-to-day advice, encouragement and practical assistance to help residents live independently (e.g., budgeting, understanding bills, organising appointments, managing correspondence).
- Signpost and refer residents to appropriate external agencies, such as:
- Mental health services
- Substance misuse support
- GP and health services
- Benefits / welfare advice organisations
- Social care, advocacy or legal advice services
- Support residents to attend appointments, community activities, training or volunteering opportunities where appropriate.
- Promote positive routines, social engagement, confidence building and community inclusion.
- Support residents to develop tenancy management skills, including:
- Understanding tenancy rights and responsibilities
- Reporting repairs
- Maintaining property cleanliness and safety
- Recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns, following organisational safeguarding policies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, support notes, risk assessments, incident reports and handovers.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, external partners and agencies involved in residents’ support.
- Encourage residents to make their own choices, promoting independence, empowerment and self-advocacy.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, reflective practice and required training.

- Confidence supporting people who may have:
- Mental health challenges
- Learning difficulties
- Substance misuse needs
- Experience of homelessness or trauma
- Ability to de-escalate conflict and manage challenging situations calmly.
- Good organisational skills and accuracy in recording information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience working with vulnerable adults or in housing-related support is desirable but not essential.
- Relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care, Housing or Support Work) is an advantage.
- Enhanced DBS required.
- Knowledge of local support services / housing legislation is beneficial (training can be provided).
Working Pattern
- Weekdays times to be agreed with the applicant.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £14.00-£14.50 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
