How You'll Make a Difference
As a Housing Officer you will manage quality private sector accommodation across the whole of South Gloucestershire, for people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, as well as supporting people to sustain their tenancies.
What You Will Be Doing
- You will be responsible for all aspects of property management, including lettings, monitoring rents, organising repairs, inspecting properties and liaising with landlords.
- It will be key for you to maintain regular contact with tenants, understanding and identifying concerns and signposting to the relevant services.
- You will promote the service to potential new landlords, to help bring in new properties to expand the existing property portfolio.
- To identify the right properties for tenants, you will work closely with landlords and the teams within HomeChoice.
- You will carry out administrative tasks and complete the necessary paperwork to sign up new tenancies.
- Regularly, you will be required to visit tenants in their homes, sometimes at short notice.
What We Need From You
- It is essential you have relevant practical experience of housing management.
- You must have working experience of delivering housing services to vulnerable people and minority groups.
- You will demonstrate knowledge of landlord and tenant responsibilities, eviction procedures and legal processes.
- Given the elements of this role, it is essential you can communicate effectively and demonstrate strong problem solving skills to address issues effectively.
What You Need To Know
- All applications will be initially reviewed and if you are shortlisted, you will be invited to complete a short psychometric assessment. If you are successful through this stage, you will be invited to an interview.
- Please note that due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement of employment that a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained.
- You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area, sometimes at short notice, so you must have regular access to a vehicle or have an alternative means of travel.
Interviews will be held on 9th December 2025.
