About the Role
You’ll play a key role in housing services and tenancy management by supporting residents in Nottingham City Council’s temporary accommodation. You will:
- Manage referrals of residents requiring emergency temporary housing.
- Welcome new residents, issue keys, and explain tenancy licence conditions.
- Assist residents with Housing Benefit claims and provide advice on managing rent and service charges.
- Monitor resident behaviour and take appropriate action, including enforcement where necessary.
- Liaise with Housing Solutions and partner agencies to ensure residents access support and prepare to move on to permanent housing.
- Ensure properties are maintained, equipped, and void rates kept to a minimum.
- Maintain accurate case records, attend meetings, and follow tenancy management procedures.
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience of working in a housing environment and an ability to learn.
- Ability to remain calm and able to make accurate and timely decisions whilst under pressure and to maintain control of challenging situations.
- An understanding of issues relating to homelessness.
- Working knowledge of Welfare Benefits.
- Good interpersonal skills and a proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to a range of customers, and the ability to develop and present written or verbal information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to be considerate but also firmly assist and direct people who may not be engaging or not adhering to their tenancy.
