Housing Support Worker – Homelessness & Complex Needs
Location: Colchester
Salary: £24,326 per annum + £73.89 per sleep-in shift (up to 2 per week)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week – rota including evenings, weekends & bank holidays
Contract: Permanent
We are seeking a
Housing Support Worker to join a Colchester-based supported housing service for adults experiencing homelessness and complex needs. This is a rewarding but challenging role where resilience, empathy, and a person-centred approach are essential.
You will support residents to develop the skills they need to live independently, from managing a tenancy and budgeting to accessing healthcare, training, or employment. Many residents have faced trauma, mental health issues, or substance misuse, so you will play a vital role in helping them rebuild stability and confidence.
What you will do:- Manage a caseload and provide tailored one-to-one support.
- Help residents with daily living skills and accessing benefits.
- Encourage engagement with education, training, or recovery services.
- Work with partner agencies and maintain accurate records.
- Promote safeguarding and a trauma-informed approach at all times.
About you:- Experience supporting adults with complex needs.
- Resilient, compassionate, and confident in challenging situations.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and housing-related support.
- Strong communication and IT skills.
