Overview of role
To support customers assessing support services when visiting The Lantern to receive as seamless a service as possible.
Main Responsibilities
To provide support services to Lantern customers so they are able to access housing and services which help them acquire and maintain their tenancies.
Operational
- Meet customers that approach through the Drop In and in outreach settings when required to assess and prioritize client’s housing and support needs.
- Signpost clients to other support agencies if needed.
- Liaise with the statutory and voluntary services in Weymouth and Portland as needed.
- Maintain client case records
Team Practice
- Maintain effective working relationships with other members of The Lantern team.
- Liaise externally with other agencies as appropriate.
General
- Comply with and actively promote The Lantern’s equal opportunity policy.
- Abide by current Health & Safety and Environmental Health legislation.
- Promote the project in a positive way in keeping with The Lantern’s ethos.
Supervision and Support
- Supervision and support on a day-to-day basis from Line Manager.

Education/Training - Eg: Degree/Professional Qualification
Essential:
- Good standard of written and numerical skills to GCSE or A level standard.
Desirable:
- Attended regular training courses, or evidence of CPD in the homeless sector or similar.
Experience/Knowledge
Essential:
- Experience of working in housing or a related field
- Experience of partnership working with external organisations/agencies
- Experience of working directly with vulnerable adults and/or those at risk
- Working knowledge of welfare benefits
- Knowledge of safeguarding
- Experience of working in a similar role
- Experience of facilitating case reviews
Desirable:
- A working knowledge of Homelessness legislation and Housing Register/Allocation Policy
- Knowledge of social care legislation
- Knowledge of housing options and support services available
- Experience of providing welfare advice and support
Skills/Abilities:
Essential:
- Demonstrate effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to prioritise own workload to meet deadlines
- Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with external organisations
- Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail when maintaining records

Starting salary £12.75 - £14 Per Hour (DOE)
