The Women's Association for Networking and Development (WAND) is transitioning from a 20 year history as a founder led organisation to a more sustainable long-term model under its first CEO appointment. WAND supports women and girls from marginalised, isolated and vulnerable communities.
The Board of Trustees are seeking an experienced Chief Executive or Senior Leader to drive operational efficiency, compliance, and strategic growth, ensuring that WAND continues to make a lasting impact. As Chief Executive, you will play a key leadership role in overseeing the charity’s day-to-day operations, ensuring financial sustainability, governance, compliance, and organisational effectiveness. You will work closely with a highly motivated and engaged Board of Trustees to implement strategic initiatives, optimise processes, and lead a high-performing team of volunteers and staff.
The Chief Executive will be accountable to the Board of Trustees for overall performance in line with the agreed strategy, and keeping trustees informed and consulted about key operational matters, risks and opportunities.
The board are looking for candidates with
At least 7 years of leadership / operational management experience in non-profit or other organisations
Strong understanding of UK charity governance, safeguarding, compliance, and risk management to ensure compliant and sustainable operations
Safeguarding Level 3 (it will be a condition of employment that Level 3 is completed before commencing employment)
Experience overseeing finance, accounting, budgeting, fundraising and grant management
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop organisational culture
Excellent project management and problem-solving skills
Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership-building experience
Committed to centering women’s needs and voices across all areas of work
Well-versed in ensuring programmes and services run efficiently with high quality delivery
An empathetic and supportive approach to managing
Experienced in monitoring and evaluating needs, and driving organisational strategy
