About the Service - Housing & Homelessness Services
A safe home is the solid base from which you build your life. We support people who are experiencing homelessness, or at risk of becoming homeless, as well as providing specialist accommodation and outreach services for rough sleepers, veterans, survivors of domestic abuse, women and young people.
Accommodation to us doesn’t just mean a roof over your head and shelter from the elements. It needs to be a welcoming and flourishing environment, offering opportunities for all those we support to feel comfortable and develop. About the Job
Hedley House is a 24-hour supported accommodation service based in Stanley, County Durham supporting 12 young people to grow and foster their independent living skills.
Hedley House has 3 additional properties within the community, and we are looking for a housing support worker to join an enthusiastic and professional team to work across our dispersed model, which consists of 3 properties with the local area. Your role will involve supporting young people aged 16-21 to flourish and to work to overcome the interconnected problems that lead them into accessing our services, whilst living in their own home.
Your work will involve working with young people in the community, providing crucial support to help people overcome challenges and improve their lives. As part of your role, you will be required to work alongside other external agencies and professionals, sharing information and concerns in a timely manner.
You will be expected to visit the young people in their own homes, tailoring support plans based on the individuals’ unique needs and circumstances, signposting the young person to other agencies and advocating on their behalf to ensure all their care and support needs are met.
Your support will focus on helping individuals develop life skills such as self-care and living skills, budgeting and money management skills such as, providing emotional support, identifying and addressing any additional support needs which the YP may require, while applying creativity and professional curiosity in order promote positive change.
