We are looking for an interim Co-ordinator for The Manna, a busy church-based daycentre in Islington for homeless and marginalised people, working collectively alongside two other paid staff and twenty volunteers. Our clients are challenged by street homelessness or precarious housing, poverty, addiction, poor mental or physical health, uncertain status, isolation, often in combination.

The main purpose of the role is to facilitate the safe and smooth running of our drop-in sessions on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. There is a further day for admin, either Monday or Wednesday. It is a very "hands on" role with a good balance of personal interaction and practical tasks which take priority over desk work. Our daycentre offers practical services: food, showers, laundry,clothing, wi-fi, laptop use, a mailing address, storage and also small group activities: poetry, art, gardening, walking and one-to-one support and advocacy. Clients often contribute their skills and suggestions, which we welcome.

The role is for 6 months while we review the project and plan for the future so there is some possibility of extension. The salary is pro rata of £32,000 to £34,000 and the anticipated hours are 32 a week.

We are looking for someone with very good organisational and people skills, someone resilient and flexible, able to deal with occasional challenging behaviour but with the humility and approachability to prevent that happening!
