Summary

A critical and strategic role defining the next phase of this successful charity. This role requires an individual with demonstrable leadership skills and tenacity to strategically grow this charity from its’ already successful position to a future where it can offer more services to the beneficiaries who rely on it.

Fronting Emmanuel House with your own style as a role model, the CEO will lead a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, you will cultivate a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, ensuring high-quality standards in all operations. This role is not just a job; it’s a mission to create lasting positive change in the lives of those experiencing homelessness in Nottingham.

Key Responsibilities

1) Lead the Charity

a) Be the visible face of the charity externally building relationships with all critical stakeholders.

b) Lead and inspire the whole staff team and volunteers.

c) Maintain and develop the charity’s person-centred approach.

d) Prepare the organisation for due diligence assessments in preparation for tendering contracts.

2) Develop and implement the vision for the charity and its work in Nottingham and beyond

a) Set the vision and goals for the charity in consultation with the Board, staff and service users.

b) Recognise and seize new opportunities where they further the aims of the charity.

c) Lead for growth in reach and impact.

d) Establish clear measurable goals and create momentum.

3) Select, lead and direct the team

a) Develop and coach the management team.

b) Support and strengthen the team via training, development and supervision.

c) Ensure that the staff are collectively reviewing their work as a team and celebrating their achievements.

d) Implement robust health and safety protocols to protect staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries.

e) Working with other expertise, develop and implement the requirements for Emmanuel House to achieve Registered Provider Status.

4) Represent and advocate for the Charity and its work in Nottingham and beyond

a) Represent the charity with key stakeholders with integrity and credibility.

b) Identify and advocate for the role of the charity in wider eco-structure of homelessness services in Nottingham and beyond.

c) Lead advocacy efforts to influence policy and raise awareness about issues affecting the organisation’s beneficiaries.

d) Maintain updated records of key stakeholders and develop a communication plan for stakeholder engagement.

e) Prepare and compile comprehensive due diligence reports summarising all preparations, findings, and supporting documents.

f) Ensure readiness to present the organisation’s compliance, financial health, operational effectiveness, and continuous improvement efforts to the local authority.

5) Collaborate with the trustees to maintain to secure the long-term financial and professional stability of the charity

a) Ensure the charity has the financial resources to meet its vision.

b) Have clear accountability and responsibility for all budgets and forecasts, identifying any financial risks and opportunities to the Board of Trustees.

c) Monitor and report on the financial position of the Charity and to ensure the Board is fully informed.

d) Ensure that all policies and procedures are in place for full legal and professional compliance.

e) Ensure that the charity meets all its statutory requirements as a charity under the jurisdiction of the Charity Commission.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Skills:

Lead the charity

• Proven leadership qualities with the capacity to direct the charity through others.

• Has significant and recent experience in leadership within the charitable sector.

• Has experience of, and commitment to, cultural, social and racial diversity.

Lead the vision

• Evidence of strategic thinking and vision, with the ability to analyse complex concepts and information.

• Deep knowledge of the homelessness sector and its particular challenges and issues.

• Ability to expound the vision in ways that win the hearts and minds of the staff, volunteers and external stakeholders.

Lead the team

• Ability to manage time and delegate responsibilities to others in such a way that they are able to serve with a sense of direction, accomplishment, and security.

• Ability to lead a staff team, to motivate them, maintain good relationships with them, and otherwise oversee their work in such a way as to enable them to reach their full potential.

• Record of developing and nurturing new leaders through encouragement, support and coaching.

Represent the charity

• Ability to represent the charity to local government, NGOs, related charities, and donors with integrity and credibility.

• Personal impact to raise and maintain the profile of charity and its work, making representation externally at senior levels in a creative, courteous and effective manner.

• The capacity to communicate clearly and succinctly in writing and orally. Ensure good governance and stewardship of the charity’s resources

• Demonstrates evidence of concern and understanding of financial and professional matters.

• Experience of working with a board of trustees in a voluntary, public or private organisation, and the ability to develop a positive, robust relationship with a board.

• Clear commitment to the importance of safeguarding at all levels of the charity, with relevant training and experience.
