As a Supported Housing Worker within Stepping Stone Projects' Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) Service, you'll play a key role in supporting young people to build safe, stable and independent lives in the UK.

Working with young people who have arrived in the country without family support, you'll deliver a blend of practical housing management and individualised support. You'll help young people understand and maintain their tenancy, manage their accommodation and access essential services such as education, training and healthcare. Alongside this, you'll support them to develop the skills, confidence and independence needed for adulthood, while helping them navigate the challenges they may face along the way. About the role

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people while maintaining high standards of housing management. You'll work closely with a caseload of young people, helping them achieve their goals through tailored support planning, risk assessment and practical guidance. Alongside this, you'll carry out property visits, work collaboratively with partner agencies and empower young people to develop the skills, confidence and resilience needed to achieve greater independence and long-term housing stability.

What you’ll be doing

Develop meaningful, trusting relationships that empower young people to feel safe, valued and motivated to achieve their aspirations.
Deliver tailored support plans that develop independence, confidence and essential life skills, including budgeting, managing a home and accessing local services.
Support young people to access education, training, healthcare and wider community opportunities.
Manage accommodation-related responsibilities, helping young people understand their rights and responsibilities, sustain their accommodation and prepare for independent living.
Advocate for young people and work closely with local authorities, education providers, health services and other partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
Complete support plans, risk assessments and case records, while promoting safeguarding, wellbeing and the safety of both young people and their accommodation.

About You

You don't need to tick every box to be successful in this role. What matters most is your commitment to supporting young people, your resilience in challenging situations and your belief that every young person has the potential to achieve positive outcomes.

We're looking for someone who can build trusted, professional relationships with young people and support them to develop the skills, confidence and independence needed to thrive. You may already have experience in supported housing, housing management, tenancy sustainment, homelessness services, refugee or asylum support, youth work, leaving care, social care, education or another role that involves supporting people to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

You'll be confident balancing practical housing management responsibilities with person-centred support, ensuring young people are safe, engaged and progressing towards greater independence.

To support young people to access services from other statutory and voluntary agencies as appropriate to their needs and act as key worker in co-ordinating services in order to prevent duplication.
To support customers through individual resettlement support and independence plans.
To ensure that record-keeping and communication systems are accurately maintained, up-to-date and comply with SSP’s Data Protection Policy.
To work with and advise young people accordingly with regard to welfare rights, budgeting, employment, education and training, leisure opportunities and issues of personal care.
To assist the Line Manager in ensuring that all furniture and fittings in the young person's home is maintained and in good condition.
To advise/assist young people with the reporting of necessary repairs and decorating in their proposed homes, visiting and liaising with agencies to ensure satisfactory completion

Successful Supported Housing Workers build strong, trusting relationships with young people and remain calm, resilient and compassionate in the face of challenges. They understand the impact that trauma and uncertainty can have on a young person's life and are committed to providing both practical guidance and meaningful support. By promoting independence, wellbeing and positive decision-making, they empower young people to develop the skills, confidence and resilience needed to build brighter futures.
