Volunteer Minibus Driver

At Centrepoint, we support thousands of young people experiencing homelessness every year. But accessing opportunities — education, training, wellbeing activities — often depends on something simple: getting there. That’s where you come in. As a Volunteer Minibus Driver, you’ll help young people attend activities, appointments and trips that build their confidence, independence and future prospects. Whether it’s a college visit, a wellbeing activity, or a day out, your support helps make these opportunities possible.  Your support will help reduce barriers such as transport limitations, ensuring young people can fully engage with Centrepoint services and the wider community.

What you will be doing

• Safely driving a Centrepoint minibus to transport young people and/or staff to and from activities, appointments and trips
• Supporting the planning and coordination of journeys with staff teams
• Carrying out basic vehicle checks (e.g. fuel levels, cleanliness, visual safety checks) before and after use
• Ensuring all passengers are following safety guidance, including seatbelt use
• Maintaining a professional, friendly and supportive approach when interacting with young people
• Reporting any issues, incidents, or concerns to the Volunteer Supervisor or staff member on duty

 The skills you need

• A valid clean Full UK driving licence (Category D1)
• Confidence and experience in driving larger vehicles
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Reliability and punctuality
• A calm, patient, and non-judgemental approach
