Make a difference. Prevent homelessness. Empower independence.

At Stepping Stone Projects, we're committed to preventing homelessness, promoting independence, and empowering people to build brighter futures through housing support.

We're looking for a compassionate and proactive Supported Housing Worker to join our Trafford ABEN Service. This rewarding role involves supporting individuals who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, helping them to access and sustain safe accommodation within our dispersed properties across Trafford.

Working with customers living in both shared and single-occupancy properties, you'll provide practical and person-centred support to help them maintain their tenancies, develop essential life skills, and move towards greater independence. From supporting with budgeting, benefits and housing applications to helping individuals overcome barriers linked to mental health, substance misuse and homelessness, you'll play a key role in helping customers achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.

About the role

As a Supported Housing Worker, you will manage a caseload of customers living within our dispersed accommodation across Trafford, providing tailored support to help them achieve and maintain housing stability. You'll work closely with individuals to identify realistic goals and develop the skills needed to live independently.

The role combines practical housing-related support with proactive case management, helping customers navigate challenges such as financial difficulties, accessing benefits, maintaining tenancies, and securing longer-term housing options. You'll also work collaboratively with statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure customers receive the wider support they need to achieve positive outcomes.

Through building trusting relationships and delivering person-centred support, you'll play a key role in empowering customers to overcome barriers, increase their independence, and move forward with confidence.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing a caseload of customers living within our dispersed properties across Trafford, providing housing-related support tailored to individual needs.
  • Supporting customers to sustain their tenancies, manage their finances, access benefits, and work towards their housing and personal goals.
  • Working closely with local authorities, housing providers and partner agencies to coordinate support and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Completing regular support sessions, maintaining accurate records, and monitoring progress against agreed support plans.
  • Supporting customers to access move-on opportunities while promoting independence, wellbeing and long-term housing stability.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you're passionate about supporting people to overcome challenges and achieve greater independence. You'll have an understanding of the impact homelessness can have on individuals and be committed to providing person-centred support that empowers people to maintain stable accommodation and move forward positively with their lives.

You'll be confident building positive professional relationships and supporting customers with a range of needs, including housing, benefits, budgeting, mental health, and substance misuse. You'll be able to work independently while also collaborating effectively with external agencies and partner organisations to achieve the best outcomes for the people you support.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience of supporting customers to successfully manage and sustain their tenancies.
  • Knowledge of Housing Benefit and an understanding of the welfare benefits system.
  • Experience of supporting customers with move-on planning and helping them access suitable long-term accommodation.
  • An understanding of the effects of homelessness and the barriers individuals can face when accessing and maintaining housing.
  • Experience of working in partnership with a range of agencies and professionals to coordinate effective support and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Strong communication, organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a varied caseload.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence, with daily access to a reliable vehicle

Why join us?

At Stepping Stone Projects, you'll be part of an organisation that is committed to helping people overcome homelessness and build more independent futures. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference, supporting customers at a pivotal point in their lives and helping them achieve positive, lasting outcomes.

In return, you'll join a supportive and collaborative team where your expertise is valued, your work has real impact, and no two days are the same. Whether you're helping someone sustain their tenancy, navigate housing challenges or move into longer-term accommodation, you'll see first-hand the difference your support can make.
