About the role
Applicants for this position must be available for interview19th November 2026.
The Senior Outreach Worker role is within Day Centre & Outreach Services and is a permanent, 37-hour-per-week position reporting to the Service Manager – Day Centre & Outreach. The role is primarily based around street-based outreach, supporting people who are sleeping rough or at risk of homelessness. It provides senior practice leadership, case oversight and guidance to Outreach Navigators and Peer Mentors, while working closely with accommodation, healthcare, local authorities and other support services.
Outreach Navigators are often the first point of contact for people sleeping rough with HARP. They are out early in the morning and late at night, finding people in the places where they are sleeping and starting to build relationships from that first conversation.
Their role is to understand what matters to each person, dynamically assess risk, connect with partners and navigate the pathway into accommodation and greater stability. It requires persistence without pressure, curiosity, strong professional judgement and the ability to build trust quickly. No two days are the same, and the work can change in a moment.
