About the Service
Potter Street is a small, supported accommodation service consisting of a 12-bed hostel and 32 move-on accommodation units across Worksop. Our aim is to help people develop the skills, confidence and stability needed to successfully maintain their own tenancy in the community.
As our Night Support Worker, you'll play an important role in ensuring residents feel safe, supported and listened to throughout the night.
Working Pattern
This role averages 37 hours per week over a 9-week rota cycle and includes:
- Night shifts: 8:00pm to 9:00am on a pattern of 3 nights on, 6 nights off.
- Weekend day shifts: Three weekends out of every nine, working Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am to 8:30pm.
We are also happy to consider applications for a 30-hour contract covering nights only.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for residents.
- Carrying out regular welfare and safety checks.
- Managing access to the building and undertaking security checks.
- Offering practical and emotional support to residents when needed.
- Encouraging individuals to make positive and informed decisions.
- Completing written records and handovers accurately.
- Supporting the smooth running of the service, including health and safety and property management tasks.
- Working in line with safeguarding and lone working procedures.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Is compassionate, patient and approachable.
- Can build positive relationships and professional boundaries.
- Has excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
- Works well independently and is confident in a lone-working environment.
- Remains calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations.
- Understands, or is willing to learn about, the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness.
Experience of working with vulnerable adults, homelessness, mental health, substance misuse or supported housing is desirable, but just as important is your ability to connect with people, treat them with dignity and respect, and support them to achieve their goals.
