Adapt homes. Build independence. Make a difference.

Are you an experienced multi-skilled joiner who takes pride in high-quality workmanship? Join Plus Dane’s adaptations team and use your joinery expertise and wider trade skills to help make customers’ homes safer and better suited to their needs.

You’ll receive a salary of £34,028 per annum (£18.69 per hour based on a 35-hour week), a strong benefits package, including generous annual leave, wellbeing support and ongoing training and development.

Why join us?

Make a visible difference

Your work will help customers live more comfortably and independently by adapting their homes to their needs.

Enjoy a varied trade role

Put your joinery and wider trade skills to use in a varied, hands-on adaptations role.

Work with trust and autonomy

Manage your workload, use your judgement and work both independently and alongside supportive colleagues.

Keep learning and progressing

Build your knowledge through ongoing training, development opportunities and formal qualifications.

Your benefits

Alongside your competitive salary, you’ll receive:

  • 35 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • 10% employer pension contribution
  • Wellbeing support
  • Ongoing training and development
  • The option to buy up to five extra days of annual leave

What the role is really like

You’ll work in customers’ homes as part of our adaptations team, delivering practical improvements that support their comfort and independence. This is a hands-on role where careful workmanship and minimising disruption matter.

Out-of-hours call-outs and overtime may be available on a voluntary basis, as needed and by agreement.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll:

  • Install level access showers, from rip out to tiling finish, and carry out alterations to doorways, walls and floors;
  • Use your joinery and multi-trade skills, including plumbing, tiling and patch plastering, to complete adaptations from start to finish;
  • Manage your workload, keep appointments and communicate clearly with customers and colleagues;
  • Record work accurately using the technology provided, including materials used and relevant schedule of rates codes;
  • Follow safe working practices, assess risks and look after your tools, equipment, company vehicle and van stock; and
  • Treat customers and their homes with respect, protect their belongings and keep waste to a minimum.

Could this role be for you?

You’ll bring more than joinery expertise: you’ll be confident using a range of trade skills to deliver complete, high-quality adaptations. Relevant adaptations experience and experience working in occupied homes are required; social housing experience is desirable but not essential.

You’ll have a customer-focused approach, good communication skills and the confidence to explain work clearly and manage expectations. You’ll be able to prioritise jobs, solve practical problems and work independently and as part of the wider team.

What you really need

You’ll need:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Joinery, or NVQ Level 2 with substantial, relevant adaptations experience;
  • Relevant adaptations experience, multi-trade skills including plumbing, tiling and patch plastering, and experience working in occupied properties;
  • A sound understanding of health and safety regulations, risk assessment and safe working practices;
  • Good communication and customer service skills, confidence using IT and mobile technology, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team; and
  • A full UK driving licence, as you’ll travel between properties using a company vehicle.

If you receive an offer, you’ll be asked to provide evidence of your joinery qualification, such as original certificates, as part of the onboarding process.

Before you apply

This is a six-month fixed-term role, working 35 hours per week across various locations in Cheshire and Merseyside.

Ready to make your next move?

If you’re passionate about high-quality adaptations and want to use your trade skills to improve homes and support customers’ independence, we’d love to hear from you.
