Help people build confidence and everyday living skills Are you patient, practical and reliable? Could you help someone plan their shopping, prepare a meal, manage their budget or feel more confident communicating in English? HHS Group is recruiting a part-time Housing Support Worker to provide practical, person-centred support to tenants in Swansea. You will help people develop the everyday skills and routines that support independent living, treating each person with dignity and respect. This could suit someone looking for a small, regular part-time role or additional hours alongside existing commitments, provided you can consistently cover the working pattern below. Working hours — please check before applying Monday to Thursday: 5pm–6pm each day Saturday: 11am–2pm This totals seven hours per week: four one-hour weekday visits and one three-hour Saturday visit. You must be available for all five weekly visits. As the weekday sessions are short, please consider whether the location and journey are practical for you before applying.

Key Responsibilities

What you will do You will work alongside tenants, encouraging them to develop their skills rather than simply doing everything for them. Support will include: - Budgeting and shopping: helping tenants plan everyday spending, prepare shopping lists and make affordable choices. - Cooking: supporting meal planning, food preparation and safe kitchen routines. - Cleaning and home routines: helping tenants develop manageable routines for keeping their living space clean and organised. - Personal hygiene: offering respectful encouragement and guidance around hygiene and daily self-care. - Everyday English: providing opportunities to practise conversational English and build confidence with day-to-day communication. You will also build positive professional relationships, respect privacy and cultural differences, maintain clear records of the support provided, and report any welfare or safeguarding concerns through the appropriate channels.

Requirements

About you You will need a calm, non-judgemental approach, good communication skills and the patience to explain tasks clearly without taking over. Reliability matters: tenants should be able to depend on you arriving when expected and following through on agreed support. You should be comfortable working independently within agreed procedures, maintaining professional boundaries and asking for guidance when needed. You will also need sufficient written English to complete clear support notes. Experience in housing support, community support, independent living support, care or a similar role would be valuable. Relevant voluntary experience and transferable skills are also welcome. Above all, we are looking for someone who listens, treats people respectfully and genuinely wants to help them become more confident and independent.
