Lead with purpose. Turn safety commitments into safer homes.
Your expertise can make a lasting difference to the people who call our homes their own. Join Plus Dane in a permanent senior leadership role, shaping landlord compliance and building safety services, leading a high performing team and driving high standards of safety, assurance and continuous improvement.
Salary: £77,231.35 per year | Permanent | 35 hours per week | Liverpool/Cheshire, with occasional travel between Plus Dane locations.
Why join us?
Make safety matter every day
Lead services that protect customers, colleagues and contractors, with a clear focus on managing building safety risks and seeing remedial actions through to completion.
Shape the service, not just the strategy
Translate changing requirements into practical programmes, stronger controls and measurable improvements.
Lead people and build confidence
Develop the Compliance Team, support technical competence and create a culture where colleagues take ownership and raise concerns.
Bring clarity where it counts
Give senior leaders and the Board reliable, evidence-based assurance that makes risks, priorities and decisions clear.
Your benefits
Alongside your salary, you’ll receive:
- 35 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
- 10% employer pension contribution
- Three-day Christmas closedown
- Wellbeing support
- Ongoing training and development
What the role is really like
You’ll combine strategic leadership with hands-on operational oversight, working across Property Services, Healthy Homes, Assets, Development and Housing, alongside residents, regulators and specialist partners.
Expect competing priorities and decisions that need sound judgement. You’ll need to challenge confidently, escalate safety concerns and explain complex issues clearly and honestly.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll:
- Shape compliance and building safety strategy, policies and improvement plans, translating legislative change into clear responsibilities and practical delivery;
- Oversee gas, asbestos, water hygiene, fire, electrical, lift and other relevant servicing programmes, ensuring inspections and remedial actions are completed and evidenced;
- Lead fire and building safety risk management, including higher-risk building safety cases, golden-thread records and resident engagement where applicable to our duties;
- Own data quality, risk registers and performance reporting; support audits, verify action closure and promptly escalate overdue work, no-access cases and material safety concerns;
- Plan and manage budgets, procurement and specialist contracts, testing competence, quality and value for money, and ensuring property changes and handovers are reflected in compliance records; and
- Develop your team, strengthen partnerships and accessible customer communications, and lead the compliance and building safety contribution to incident response and learning.
Could this role be for you?
You may already lead compliance and building safety services, or bring relevant senior leadership experience from building surveying, construction, property or fire safety. What matters is your proven ability to lead compliance and building safety teams in a regulated environment and turn technical expertise into safe, customer-focused services.
You’ll be open and collaborative, with strong personal integrity and the confidence to ask difficult questions. You’ll develop others, make proportionate risk-based decisions and keep customers at the heart of your approach.
What you really need
You’ll need:
- A relevant Level 5 qualification, or equivalent demonstrable professional competence, in building safety, building surveying, construction, property, fire safety or a related discipline;
- CIH Level 5, or a willingness to work towards it, plus a recognised leadership and management qualification at Level 5 or above, or equivalent demonstrable senior leadership experience;
- A strong track record of leading building safety and compliance teams, with demonstrable success in developing technical competence and embedding a transparent, accountable safety culture;
- Experience in compliance audits, gap analysis and risk management, including verified closure of audit and inspection actions;
- Practical knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022, Building Regulations and the distinct responsibilities of statutory duty holders; and
- Experience managing compliance contracts and performance, working with statutory and regulatory bodies, and managing budgets and forecasts.
Housing-sector knowledge, resident engagement experience, relevant professional membership and experience leading service or systems improvements would be valuable, but are not essential.
