Purpose of the role

This is one volunteer role with two linked duties: supporting the front desk from 9 am-12 noon and helping with the daily breakfast club from 9-10 am. The volunteer will provide a welcoming, non-judgemental presence, offer practical support and signpost residents to staff or appropriate services while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming, non-judgemental presence at the front desk, usually from 9 am-12 noon; hours can be adjusted by agreement.
  • Greet residents and visitors and direct enquiries to the appropriate member of staff.
  • Listen to residents’ needs and offer face-to-face signposting to staff or appropriate services.
  • Help prepare, serve and clear away breakfast in the breakfast club from 9-10 am each day.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries and a safe, respectful environment.
  • When requested, accompany a support worker entering a resident’s room; never enter alone and always follow staff guidance and safeguarding procedures.
