We are currently looking for a skilled Groundworker with substructure knowledge and experience. You will be working as part of a construction team assisting with installation of street furniture (bus shelters) and small format digital screens.
This role will at times require travelling to sites nationwide, so lodging and reasonable overnight expenses will be provided along with the use of a company vehicle. You will be working in a small team installing steel structures and digital advertising screens. Groundwork will include hand and machine excavations. An understanding of safe excavation techniques, including surveying for underground apparatus is essential. Experience and qualifications to use appropriate handheld tools, machinery and excavation plant is desired but not necessary, being able to set out to line and level and finish the groundworks phase in a variety of surfacing materials ranging from slabs/pavers/tarmac or floated concrete.
What you'll be doing
· To be able to manage your workloads issued within the agreed timescales.
· Ensure that a safe site is created and maintained in accordance with the relevant Construction Phase Plan and accompanying RAMS. This can include all forms of site segregation, signing and guarding as necessary.
· You will be required to work within the framework of JCS H&S Policy and accompanying legislation and codes of practice.
· Maintain and safeguard the tools and equipment on site and ensure that they are stored in a lockable unit at the end of the shift
· Ensure that the site is left in a clear and tidy order to represent the company’s reputation in delivering good practices, quality of work and overall general appearance.
Who are you?
· Have a full driving licence.
· Advantageous to be SSSTS trained.
· Use of power tools such as Hydraulic breakers and disc Saws and grinding wheels.
· NPORS Excavator card (desirable but not essential).
· Working within a team to achieve targets.
· To be able to problem solve on issues related to construction, using initiative when making decisions to enable the works to continue.
. Identification of underground services and competency using CAT scanning.
Excavation and Sub- Structure knowledge.
· NRSWA qualified with Traffic Management knowledge and the following of correct procedures.
· Competent in the use of machinery.
Candidates must be reliable and good with time keeping and must be a team player. Working hours can vary each day depending on what the work schedule is, All candidates are considered and immediate start is possible for right candidate. General times between 6am to 4pm Monday to Friday (nightworks are sometimes needed to meet demands of projects these will be requested as and when required with advanced notice)
