You will be responsible for collecting and redistributing excess food to individuals facing homelessness and struggling households, your role is crucial in addressing food scarcity and supplying vital nourishment to those in distress. Additionally, you will be tasked with participating in proselytizing outreach and aid in managing other community initiatives.
The ideal applicant will be one of the congregation leaders who will contribute to effectively spreading the message of Jesus Christ for the advantage of the populace through the church's worldwide organization, including participation in establishing new churches and supporting the administrative crew as needed.
Duties include:
- Collaborate with local enterprises, markets, and food distributors to gather leftover food donations.
- Organize and coordinate the logistics of food gathering, ensuring prompt and efficient pick-up.
- Examine donated food items to guarantee they comply with safety and hygiene standards.
- Sort and categorize food items for effective allocation, considering their nutritional value and dietary needs.
- Work closely with community hubs, shelters, and local charities to evaluate the necessities of homeless individuals and families in want.
- Planned and organized food distribution timetables to maximize impact and reach individuals in need.
- Build affirmative relations with community members, shelters, and support organizations.
- Elevate awareness of the charity’s initiatives, encouraging community engagement and backing.
- Enlist and instruct volunteers to assist with food gathering, sorting, and allocation activities.
- Provide clear directives and support to volunteers, ensuring orderly and organized operations.
- Maintain accurate records of food donations, including quantities, types of products, and expiration dates.
- Prepare regular reports for internal and external stakeholders to monitor the effect of the food distribution program.
- Stay updated about pertinent health and safety regulations to ensure a secure environment for workers and recipients.
- Work with local government agencies, charities, and food banks to augment the overall efficacy of food distribution.
- Adhere to safety protocols during food handling and distribution.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven expertise in support work or a related domain.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Empathy, sensitivity, and a non-judgmental stance towards diverse challenges.
- Must be proficient in English, with fluency in African languages considered a beneficial asset.
- Understanding of counselling and pastoral care.
- Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills (including active listening).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer abilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Bible and Christian doctrines (specifically within the context of House of Faith Ministries for All Nations).
- Willingness to undergo a DBS check; a driver’s license is beneficial.
