Do you have experience within business development, governance and compliance?
Do you want to give back to a third sector organisation by sharing your knowledge and experience to drive our Group Vision to Create a World Where Everyone Matters?
We have a vacancy within Inspire North for a trustee and welcome applications from both new and established trustees. This trustee will sit on our Operations & Development Sub-Committee.
We are looking for applicants with professional experience in any of the following areas:
- Business Development: Marketing strategy, communications, PR, social investment, and brand development
- Governance & Leadership: Trustee legal governance, charity law, negotiation, and contract management
- Compliance with Standards / Kitemarks: Experience with CQC, ISO27001, ISO14001, Chas, Ofsted or as a Registered Social Landlord
We welcome all applications and encourage those with lived experience and from a diverse range of backgrounds to apply to ensure our Board truly reflects the communities we work with.
You will have a deep commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and need to support our commitment to Anti-Racism.
You’ll receive a full induction and will be supported by other Board Members and the Chief Executive. If you are new to the role of trustee, or feel you would benefit from additional support, we can “buddy” you with an established trustee as part of your induction.
Our family of organisations consists of Community Links, Foundation and Bridging the Gap. To find out more, please visit https://www.inspirenorth.co.uk/. We have a common purpose Group Board with independent Trustees who sit alongside the Inspire North Trustees.
All applications will be considered based on skills, experience, and diversity of perspectives. You do not need previous board experience.
You will need:
- An understanding of what it takes to deliver effective services
- The ability to think strategically and make good decisions
- An understanding of Governance processes
- A collaborative approach with colleagues
- Effective self-management
- A real belief in our organisation’s purpose
Potential trustees must be eligible in line with Charity Commission regulations which are available from www.charitycommission.gov.uk.
Trustee commitment: You will need to be able to commit to approximately 1 day each month. This includes meetings, reading papers, board away day etc. Both the Board and the Operations and Development Sub-Committee meet quarterly on a Friday.
Our Head Office is based in Leeds however we hold our meetings in a hybrid setting with some trustees attending in person and some attending via Microsoft Teams. This opens the opportunity to have trustees who live and work across England. We only ask you attend our 2 annual board away days in person to give everyone a chance to meet each other in the real world. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.
If you are excited by our work, share our values, and want to play an active part in the work of our Board, we want to hear from you!
If you'd like more info on the role, please contact our Strategic Governance Lead at helen.ferguson@inspirenorth.co.uk or call 0113 273 9670. Helen can support arranging an informal chat with our Chief Executive, Ruth Kettle.
There are two ways you can express your interest in becoming a trustee.
We encourage you to apply early as your application will be reviewed as soon as it is received.
If successful, we will be in touch to arrange an interview at a mutually convenient time. This can be virtual if required.
We look forward to hearing from you!
