ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a dedicated Children and Family Worker to play a vital role in supporting mothers and their children within our service, helping to create a safe, stable, and nurturing environment. You will provide tailored, trauma-informed support to help families recover, rebuild relationships, and work towards independent living. By offering parenting guidance, supporting early childhood development, and facilitating family sessions, you will empower residents to overcome barriers and achieve their personal goals. Working closely with external agencies, you will contribute to delivering integrated and high-quality care for families in need.
Penrose Women's Refuge provides support and accommodation to women and children at risk of domestic abuse. The Children and Family Worker will work in partnership with the mums and support mentor to ensure holistic and trauma informed support for children living in the service. This includes developing a range of age appropriate activities, support with accessing schooling and education and supporting the mums during a challenging time. As a team, you will work to develop a structure and a safe space for women and children to heal and thrive. Due the the nature of the service the post code has been removed however, service is based in West London.
Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week - Early: 7:30am - 3:30pm, Late: 11:30pm - 7:30am, Day: 9:00am - 5:00pm 1 Saturday per month. on site.

What are we looking for?
- Understanding and/or experience of working with people of complex backgrounds
- Previous experience and/or in-depth knowledge about working with children who have experienced trauma
- IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, basic Microsoft experience
What would we like, but not essential?
- Previous experience creating co-produced support plans, key working, and care planning, providing appropriate interventions for service users
- Previous experience providing housing support and practical assistance within a residential support role
- Appropriate Professional Qualification in: Social Care, Early years Education, Certificate in Childcare or other relevant

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide tailored, trauma-informed support to mothers and children, helping them to achieve stability, recovery, and independent living.
- Deliver parenting advice, guidance, and early childhood development support, fostering a nurturing environment for children’s growth.
- Facilitate family sessions to help rebuild relationships, improve confidence, and support emotional well-being.
- Work closely with residents to develop and implement personalised support plans, addressing individual needs and goals.
- Collaborate with external partners, agencies, and professionals to ensure integrated care and access to appropriate services.
- Identify and address signs of deteriorating mental health or trauma, initiating timely interventions to prevent crises.
- Ensure all safeguarding and risk management protocols are followed, with accurate case recording and data management.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment, ensuring housing and service standards are met for all residents.
Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position.
