We are looking for an organised, proactive and experienced Finance Officer to join our friendly team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the financial management of a respected and growing local charity, ensuring our finances are robust, compliant and able to support the services that make such a difference in our community.

Salary: £35,000 per annum (pro rata)
Hours: 22.5 hours per week

About the Role
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Treasurer, you will oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the charity while supporting strategic financial planning and reporting.
This varied role combines hands-on bookkeeping with management accounting and financial analysis, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both detail and the bigger picture.
Your work will help ensure that every pound entrusted to Guildford Action is managed effectively to maximise our impact.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Managing purchase and sales ledgers
- Reconciling bank accounts weekly and balance sheet control accounts
- Calculating and posting accrual and prepayment journals in QuickBooksB
- Processing monthly payroll for 12 staff, currently outsourced, arranging payment, journaling into QuickBooks and reconciling related control accounts.
- Processing supplier payments, payroll and employee expenses
- Preparing monthly management accounts for the CEO, Treasurer and Trustees
- Monitoring restricted and unrestricted funds
- Supporting grant income monitoring and reporting
- Preparing budgets, forecasts and financial analysis
- Supporting the annual audit/independent examination and production of statutory accounts
- Managing treasury activities and monitoring reserves
- Producing financial reports for fundraising and operational teams
- Ensuring compliance with charity finance regulations and internal procedures
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Experience in a finance role with responsibility for bookkeeping and financial reporting
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- A commitment to the values of the voluntary sector
- A relevant qualification or proven experience
It would be advantageous if you also have:
- Experience using QuickBooks
- Experience within the charity or voluntary sector
- Knowledge of charity accounting and the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP), or a willingness to learn, including the 2026 updates aligned to FRS 102
- An understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
