Good News Family Care is a Christian charity based in Buxton working with women and children fleeing domestic abuse, addiction and homelessness. We are looking for a part-time Maintenance Assistant to assist with the repair and maintenance of the large residential property for which we have responsibility. The idea would be to learn about the building’s needs and maintenance schedule from the existing Maintenance Officer and to eventually take over from him.
This would suit someone who can work on their own, has transport, is familiar with the repair and maintenance of buildings, and expects a good standard of workmanship. They should be comfortable in liaising with staff and clients, obtaining quotations for work required, and have the ability and computer skills necessary to maintain a database/repair schedule.
The job will include, but isn’t limited to, -
Daily building checks
Fire Risk Assessments
PAT testing
DIY jobs
Painting and decorating
The job is for 2 days a week/15hrs per week minimum at NLW, with the possibility of becoming a full time role after an initial trial period of 6 weeks. The successful candidate will need to be in sync with the all-Christian team at the charity who meet and pray on regular basis. Please note that it is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is fully committed to the charity’s Christian ethos, basis of our faith and the stated aims of the charity.
